Counter-G8 International Forum

Welcome to Counter-G8 International Forum Web Site!

The G8 summit will be held from July 7 to 9 of this year, at Toya-ko lake in Hokkaido. These days the Japanese Government and media are busily engaged in promoting the summit. But on the other hand, many civic groups, NGOs, NPOs and other groups or networks which are opposed to the kind of globalization promoted by G8 are in the process forming variety counter-movement alternatives.
Such phenomena arenユt limited to Japan, and are no doubt part of the worldwide context of global justice movements that spring up in the wake of Seattle in 1999 and Genoa in 2001.
In order to respond politically, socially, culturally and theoretically to the worldwide situation, we will get together from the inside and outside of Japan and hold an international counter-forum using the university as public space.
Let get together and discuss alternative(s) of and the future after the globalization led by G8.
